    Nora Sharabati Joumblatt- Founder and Director

    Born in Damascus, Syria In her commitment to the promotion of literacy and education to the Syrian refugee children, she founded the Kayany Foundation in 2013. Nora Joumblatt established the Beiteddine Art Festival in the midst of the Lebanese Civil War. She is also Chair of the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon for the period of 2016 to 2018. Her work on the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage spans many years, she is an Executive Board Member of the Lebanese National Heritage Foundation since 2005 and of the Shouf Biosphere Cedar Reserve. Nora Joumblatt is also a member of the Board Trustees of the Samir Kassir Foundation for the freedom of the press in the Arab world....

    Aida Sharabati Shawwaf

    Aida is a strong advocate for women’s education in the Middle East.  She helped establish Effat University, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – the first liberal arts college for women in the Kingdom.  She has served as a member of the Board of the Near East Foundation, the United States’ oldest non-sectarian international development organization, supporting the training of women’s associations in Palestine, Jordan and Morocco. She is a founding member of Kayany Foundation, which builds and operates schools for Syrian refugee children in Lebanon, including two schools for girls established with grants from the Malala Fund. She currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Lebanese American University’s Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World....

    May Makarem

    May Makarem received her bachelor’s in History at the Université Libanaise and taught at Carmel Saint Joseph for two years. Due to the Lebanese civil war, she left Lebanon for Nice, France and Los Angeles, USA. She returned to Beirut to become a journalist at the L’Orient-Le Jour focusing on Lebanese heritage and architecture. She is an executive committee member of the Beiteddine Festival and a founding member of the child protection NGO Himaya....

    Rawya Kuzbari Alaswad

    Rawya is the founder of Prestige Fashion Boutique in Saudi Arabia and has been involved in the fashion industry for over thirteen years. She joined Kayany Foundation’s board of trustees in 2014, and she is also a contributor to Alpahbet for Alternative Education in Lebanon. In 2012, Rawya helped in raising funds for a housing project within the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan and the project provided portable caravans for more than 400 displaced Syrian families. She is currently working on several initiatives and projects that are aimed at improving the wellbeing of Syrian refugees in Lebanon....
