Reach Out to Asia

Following the successful partnership of Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) with the Center of Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) at AUB, a common project was initiated on April 2015. Kayany Foundation was chosen to be an implementing partner to build and operate two schools for Syrian refugee children in the Bekaa governorate of Lebanon. Implementation of the project started three months after a needs assessment was carried out in Bekaa, and upon the results, two locations were selected in Saadnayel and Majdal Anjar for the construction of the GHATA schools.
The ROTA schools provide non-formal education based on the Lebanese curriculum to 1500 refugee children aged 6 to 14 years old in two shifts, with a child protection componant that includes psycho-social support and resilience sessions.
