Aida is a strong advocate for women’s education in the Middle East.  She helped establish Effat University, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – the first liberal arts college for women in the Kingdom.  She has served as a member of the Board of the Near East Foundation, the United States’ oldest non-sectarian international development organization, supporting the training of women’s associations in Palestine, Jordan and Morocco.

She is a founding member of Kayany Foundation, which builds and operates schools for Syrian refugee children in Lebanon, including two schools for girls established with grants from the Malala Fund.

She currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Lebanese American University’s Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World.
